Effie Trinket butterfly dress progress by donttouchmymilk Effie Trinket butterfly dress progress by donttouchmymilk
Hey there! Wanted to prove I haven't stopped making new things. ;) Not my usual horror shenanigans, but that's okay! I've been wanting to do one of Effie's dresses for a while, but I'm not the world's greatest sewer, and all of her outfits are wonderfully extravagant. But I felt this one was more up my alley. Plus the design idea is just lovely. So, 10 dozen butterflies in, here is my progress so far. It's been a joy to work on. Now to order another 12 dozen butterflies so I can fill in those holes, build up the neck, and start on the front!

This is amazing!!!! AHHH! Can I ask where you bought the butterflies and how you are attaching them?

Thank you!
Basically I just googled "craft monarch butterflies" and went from there.  Because these are made of feathers, I have glued them, rather than sewing them.

Yes. We went to a butterfly house and lured them in with milkweed nectar and oranges.

then cut off their wings.
